Rachel Shebesh’s father, former city mayor, passes on
Former Nairobi mayor Samuel Wainaina Mbugua and father of former Nairobi Woman Rep Rachel Shebesh is dead.
The former mayor died on Wednesday while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
Born in Kariua, Murang’a county, Mbugua, served as the Mayor of Nairobi between 1998 and 1999.
He is credited with negotiating the setting up of estates like Kimathi, Uhuru, Kariobangi South, Harambee and Umoja in Eastlands through long-term loans with the World Bank.
His daughter Rachel Shebesh lost to ODM’s Esther Passaris during the August 8 elections. She garnered 69,9702 votes against Passaris’ 86,4874 votes.
Esther Passari on Wednesday took to twitter to send her condolences to Ms Shebesh and her family.
