Policeman who killed girlfriend succumbs to his own gunshot injuries
A presidential escort who shot dead his girlfriend and turned the gun on himself has died.
The police officer identified as Constable Simon Njoroge Njau succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday at the Kenyatta National Hospital where had been hospitalized.
He shot himself three times in a cyber café on Saturday on Tom Mboya Street in Nairobi, moments after he had shot his girlfriend.
The woman, Anne Wanjohi, had allegedly turned down Njau’s marriage proposal.

She was killed as she pleaded on the phone with the officer’s mother to reason with her son.
Witnesses said the officer went into Web Link Cyber Café at Braidwood House on Tom Mboya Street, opposite the Nairobi Fire Station, and found Ms Wanjohi attending to a client.
According to the late woman’s sister, Mary Wangare, the officer had threatened her sister her several times that he would kill her if she did not agree to marry him.
She said her sister had been rejecting the officer’s marriage proposal and kept telling him she was not ready.
