Police officer shoots, kills colleague in tragic accident


Police in Nairobi are investigating the accidental shooting and killing of a police officer by a fellow officer on Thursday morning.

According to the police, an Administration Police Officer attached to Korogocho AP camp was returning his AK 47 rifle and while he was doing the normal safety precaution he accidentally shot his colleague on the left side of the head killing him instantly.

Nairobi County Commander Japhet Koome confirmed the incident saying it was an accident.

Police officers visited the scene and recovered two spent cartridges, one bullet head, and an AK 47 firearm which are all being held as exhibits as investigations continue. The body of the deceased was taken to Kenyatta University mortuary awaiting autopsy.

FOUND DEAD

In Kileleshwa, a foreigner was found dead in a rented apartment on Thursday evening.

The body of the deceased was discovered by the caretaker after foreigner, a Brazilian national who has been identified as Rodrigo Grassman, failed to answer the apartment’s phone.

After knocking the door several times without any answer, the caretaker called the general manager who alerted the Red Cross personnel. The deceased was found lying unconscious.

An assortment of drugs were also found inside the room. The drugs included Ostereo Bilflex Edge, Aspirin Free, Backaid Max, Neosaldina and Eno sarchets.

The deceased’s body was transferred to the Chiromo Mortuary while the drugs were taken to the government chemist for analysis.
