Police probe KWS warder over loss of firearm

Police are investigating an incident in which a Kenya Wildlife Service warder lost his gun in Ongata Rongai.

Warder David Mutwiwa reported to the police that the firearm, a Ceska pistol of Serial number, A475453, was inside his laptop bag.

“The officer left the bag in his car at the parking of the Uchumi Supermarket in Ongata Rongai and entered the supermarket and when he came back, the driver’s door of the car was opened and the bag containing the laptop and the firearm had disappeared,” Nairobi County Deputy Police Commander Moses Ombati said.

The pistol was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition when it was stolen.

Mr Ombati said police have opened investigations into the matter. The warder is being interrogated for details on the incident.
