Police launch probe on death of top city accountant

Police in Muthangari are investigating the mysterious death of a top city accountant whose body was found outside his house in Lavington.
The body of Mr David Ndira, an accountant at Hamilton Harrison & Mathews, was found lying on blood-stained stairs at Sunning Hill apartments.
His neighbour, Mr David Kimokoti, said he found the body at 2am on Wednesday as he arrived home.
His house is on the fifth floor of one of the apartment blocks.
Fell down
“We are yet to establish whether the deceased was murdered or whether he fell down. A post mortem will help us in investigations,” said Nairobi County Deputy Police Commandant, Moses Ombati.
Police at the Muthangari station have interviewed several people including his friends, workmates and relatives as part of the investigations.
The deceased’s wife, Mrs Damaris Anyango Ndira, an employee of the Kenya Airways has also been interrogated.
Police say Mrs Ndira was not at the home when her husband died. She had left the house three days earlier.
A neighbour of he family said Mrs Ndira had left the house following a quarrel that arose after she complained about the deceased’s drinking habits.
Bouquet
When NairobiNews visited the home on Sunday, a bouquet of flowers, the deceased’s photograph and a condolence book were placed outside the house, just above the staircase where his body was found.
Mrs Ndira who was clearly overwhelmed by the loss said she was not ready to speak to the media.
“This is a very painful situation,” she said.
Relatives and friends were at the home to condole with the family.
A postmortem exam on the body of the accountant was supposed to be done on Friday, but was postponed after the family insisted that it be conducted in the presence of the government pathologist, Johansen Oduor.
Mr Ndira is survived by his wife and two daughters.
