Police killings: Search for lawyers on Baby Pendo murder starts

The search for justice over the murder of Baby Samantha Pendo has started. The six-month-old infant died after suffering head injuries during post-election police raids in Nyalenda slum, Kisumu county, to subdue protesters opposed to the presidential elections results.

A coterie of lawyers are expected to line up for the case against the National Police Service. Already, Siaya Senator James Orengo has taken note of requests to take up the case on a pro bono basis.

Twitter user Edgar Nyandong requested Senator Orengo to take the case to help Baby Samantha’s parents get justice.

“Please offer pro bono services to Baby Samantha’s parents to ensure that killer cop is locked up.
Kindly,” Mr Nyandong pleaded with Orengo.

Soon after, Mr Orengo replied by posting, “Noted. Right to life rings absolutely when a little angel is brutally taken away from family by an act of murder.”

Baby Samantha Pendo slipped into a coma before succumbing on Tuesday at around 5pm.
