City Centre.

A senior police officer who was shot seven times by a robber who had hidden in a house in Lavington six months ago will return to work next month.

The Officer in Charge of Muthangari Police Station, Mr Lipa Krop, underwent more than 10 surgeries.

Mr Krop said by phone that he was feeling better after treatment.

Colostomy is an operation done on the colon where an incision is made to allow drainage of waste.

“I hope to resume work on May 1. Right now, I can do several things on my own. I am grateful to God,” said Mr Krop.

Shoot out

The OCS was shot four times in his left arm, twice in his right arm and in the stomach during the fierce shootout that lasted five hours on November 11.

During the police raid on the house, the suspect shot at Mr Krop in a bid to disarm him.

The other officers halted the operation to rush the Mr Krop to hospital.

The suspect and two others were being trailed by police over a planned robbery.

Later, the Elite Recce Squad of the General Service Unit arrived and gunned down the suspect. Police recovered loaded pistols.
