IG wants Pastor Ng’ang’a charged with causing death

The police want popular televangelist James Ng’ang’a to be charged with causing the death of Mercy Njeri through dangerous driving.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has forwarded the police file to the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko for review.

Should the DPP concur with the police boss, then Pastor Ng’ang’a will, upon conviction, face a prison term of a maximum 10 years.

The pastor is alleged to have been involved in a crash in Tigoni on July 27 where Ms Njeri was killed and her husband seriously injured.

The police have been building a “water-tight” case around the testimonies of three witnesses, who told police that they arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and saw the pastor.

One of them told the investigators that he even talked to him.

Kenyans have been angered by the reports that the pastor could have caused the crash and then went ahead to try to cover it up.
