Paralysis at JKIA after plane mishap

Operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport were temporarily halted on Sunday after a plane from Wajir made an emergency landing  and got stuck on the runaway.

International and local flights were diverted to Mombasa international airport during the paralysis that lasted for approximately five hours.

“A flight from Wajir had emergency landing at #JKIA. No casualties/injuries. Operations ongoing to clear runway,” Kenya Airports Authority announced on its Twitter handle.

“Please note that all expected flights to JKIA are currently diverted to Mombasa Intl. Airport. Apologies for any inconveniences caused,” it added.

Kenya Airports Authority head of security Mr Eric Kiraithe also confirmed the incident.

The plane was scheduled to land at the Wilson airport but was diverted to JKIA, which has a longer runaway, after its landing gear got stuck meaning it could not land normally.
