One person died after a building under construction collapsed in Ongata Rongai.

The building collapsed on Sunday morning at around 2am trapping several people under the rubble.

Initial reports indicated that at least four people could have been trapped under the collapsed building.

But by Sunday noon, only one person was missing. The missing person was believed to have been in the building when the incident occurred.

A rescue team comprising the police, the Kenya Red Cross and the Nairobi County fire brigade are involved in rescue operations.

The Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) Pius Masai said a search and rescue team had been constituted even as excavators moved the rubble.
