Police on Sunday afternoon arrested a National Intelligent Service (NIS) officer in Eastleigh with two other civilians as they carried weapons and drugs in their car.

According to a police report, officers on patrol stopped a car that had three occupants and upon searching it found a German pistol, a replica of a pistol with seven spent cartridges.

Also found were two Somali passports, seven sachets of heroine, 40 grams of bhang, 23 rolls of bhang, three mobile phones and two Kenyan identification cards.

The NIS officer is based in Wajir.

The arrests came hours as Flying Squad officers pursued two policemen suspected of kidnapping a motorist in Athi River on Saturday evening.

The policemen, Corporal Kennedy Ojwang’ and Constable Moses Njagi, had hijacked Philemon Okelo at Delta Petrol Station along Mombasa Road and demanded Sh300,000 from his wife as ransom.

The kidnappers took the victim to Kayole and Kangundo Road before they were intercepted by police at the Shell Petrol Station along Ruiru Bypass.

The policemen and two civilians managed to escape arrest and sped off with vehicle KBU 634U belonging to Nairobi Area Police command.

One of the officers on the run is out on bail after he was charged before chief magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a surety bond of Sh500,000 each with an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.
