Ngunjiri Wambugu denies love triangle as female PA is charged with theft

Nyeri Town parliamentary Jubilee candidate Ngunjiri Wambugu has denied reports linking him to a love triangle that also involves his female personal assistant.

Mr Wambugu also denied instigating the arrest of his personal assistant, Julia Wanjiku Mukami, last Saturday after an altercation she had with a woman at White Rhino hotel in Nyeri.

“The two ladies know each other and we were with them in a club together with my other supporters. Wanjiku, though she took away (the other woman’s) bag, she later voluntary returned all those items being claimed to have been stolen. She also presented herself to police,” said Mr Wambugu in a statement on Tuesday.

OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT

He said he will facilitate an out-of-court settlement of the matter between the two ladies.

“I have been married for the last 17 years and am a father of three children and so anybody implicating me in a love triangle should bring evidence,” he noted.

Ms Wanjiku was on Tuesday charged with stealing from a reveler items worth Sh115,000 and cash Sh27,000. She denied the charges before resident magistrate Catherine Mburu.

The court heard that Ms Wanjiku stole a tablet, mobile phone, charger, spectacles and earphones from Stephani Wanja on June 17, 2017 at White Rhino hotel.

Ms Wanja works with a non-governmental organization in Nyeri.

Ms Wanjiku faced alternative count of possessing the said items which were recovered by police at her home in Gatitu village, according to the charge sheet.

CASH BAIL

She was released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 which was paid by Mr Wambugu after efforts to reconcile her with the complainant hit snag.

The case was scheduled to be heard on July 19 with a mention of July 4.

Through lawyer Njuguna Kimani, Ms Wanjiku requested for the matter to be placed aside to allow for negotiations with the complainant.

Prosecution led by Beatrice Owour did not object to the request.
