Mwiki businessman shot dead by robbers


A businessman in Mwiki area was on Wednesday night shot dead by armed robbers at his premise.

The deceased, Michael Maina was at his mini supermarket that operates till late into the night when two robbers came in and ordered him and two customers to lie down.

The customers complied but Maina resisted leading to one of the robbers shooting him on the head.

The incident took place at Tumaini mini supermarket located along Karura road behind Njeri house.

Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno told Nairobi News that the two criminals were armed with a pistol and no arrests have been made.

“The two customers were robbed a total of Sh8,000 and mobile phones while Mr Maina died as he was being taken to the hospital,” said Mr Nuno.

SHOT AND INJURED

In another incident, a gang of eight men armed with crude weapons on Friday morning at around 3am killed a watchman guarding a supplies company near the eastern by-pass and seriously injured two of his colleagues.

“Police on patrol responded and recovered the construction materials that had been stolen and kept few metres from the scene of crime,” said Mr Nuno.

In Seasons area, Kasarani, another gang of four in a vehicle shot and injured a Kenya Power staffer who was heading home on foot.

The incident happened on Friday morning at around 1am when the four drove towards the man and stabbed him on the head.

“Nothing was stolen from the man and we are yet to establish the motive of the attackers,” said Kasarani OCPD Robinson Mboloi.

The injured KPLC employee was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment.
