Muthama, Kuria hate speech bromance continues

The arrest of Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria together with former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama has elicited mixed reactions from the online community.

Kuria was arrested on Monday in Nairobi following hate speech remarks he made against Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga on September 7.

He is currently being held at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the city.

Muthama, on the other hand, is reportedly being held over remarks he made on Sunday in Kitengela during a campaign rally by Nasa. His speech also went viral on social media.

Muthama was arrested on Monday afternoon at his Tala home and taken to CID headquarters in Nairobi for interrogation.

Courts throws out hate speech charges against Muthama

This is not the first time these two politicians are being arrested over hate speech and incitement.

Last year in June, Mr Kuria and Mr Muthama were among seven legislators who were arrested and locked up in police cells and later arraigned in court on charges of hate speech.

The others were Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu (then Kabete MP), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Florence Mutua (Busia).

That is why netizens have been left wondering how the two always find themselves in trouble at the same time.
