Murder suspect wanted to have affair with Monica – kin

By MARY WAMBUI September 27th, 2018 1 min read

The brother of the woman who was killed under mysterious circumstances in Kilimani Estate now claims the prime suspect had wanted an affair with his late sister.

Speaking to the media for the first time, George Kimani, brother of the late Monica Kimani, revealed that his sister had informed him that Joseph Irungu, who is police custody in connection with the murder, was interested in having an affair with her.

She was reluctant as she did not know him well and also because she was in another relationship, he said.

‘NOTHING INTIMATE’

“The two were mutual friends and mostly communicated on Facebook and through Instagram. There was nothing intimate; Irungu admired my sister but she did not take him seriously as she had a boyfriend,” said Mr Kimani.

The family said that the two began communicating on social media before they finally met recently at Westlands, Nairobi.

Monica’s father Bishop Paul Kimani Ngarama, also speaking for the first time, said he had forgiven her daughter’s killer(s).

Mr Ngarama was, however, quick to point out that her daughter’s killers were not after her money but after her life.

“Whoever did it was not her friend because a friend cannot rape,” said the clergyman during an interview with Nation at his home in Thika.

CAN’T FORGIVE

But his wife Miriam Kimani said she cannot forgive her daughter’s killer(s).

“I cannot lie to you that I have forgiven him. I want justice for my hardworking daughter,” said Mrs Kimani.

Mr Irungu, the prime suspect in the killing of Ms Kimani, was remanded for 10 days by a Kiambu court Wednesday.

Monica was found dead in her bathtub and her throat slit.
