MP reads politics in Shebesh slap probe

By PETER OBUYA February 1st, 2014 1 min read

An assault investigation against Nairobi Women’s Representative Rachel Shebesh is the work of her political opponents, an MP has claimed.

Mr Johnson Sakaja claimed Ms Shebesh was being targeted for her good work.

He spoke after Ms Shebesh recorded a statement at the Kilimani Police Station. She is accused of slapping Mr Kazungu Changawa at her Orchid Apartments, Riverside on July 17, 2013.

“This is the work of our political opponents who are desperately trying to build a false case against a hard working leader whose only crime is defending her electorate,” said Mr Sakaja.

“Several other leaders have been mentioned in Ms Shebesh’s statement and we expect the police to summon them as well,” added Mr Sakaja, also the TNA chairman.

He did not however, mention the names of the politicians he claimed to be behind the Women Rep’s woes.

She is facing charges of causing disturbance after she led demonstrators in Dr Kidero’s office last year.
