MP Kimani Ngunjiri launches ‘Washenzi Movement’

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri on Tuesday launched his ‘Washenzi Movement’, giving form to simmering protests of perceived lack of development in Jubilee strongholds.

Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words; “Mimi ni mshenzi, je wewe mwana Kenya”, the MP saidd the movement represents interests of the poor.

“Tumekubali sisi ni washenzi, kwa hivyo tukasema siku ya leo we are going to launch Washenzi Movement. Kama mimi ni mshenzi, tumedanganywa na barabara, akadanganya sisi 2013 tutajengewa dam huko juu ili watu wa Bahati na Nakuru wapate maji, haikupatikana, tukiuliza kuna makosa?” posed the lawmaker.

Mr Ngunjiri accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of dumping his base after securing re-election.

“You are our President, you are our hero, lakini umepotea,” said Mr Ngunjiri.

The MP later led a handful of supporters in a march in Nakuru town.

The protest comes a day after President Kenyatta told off legislators from Central Kenya who claim he has neglected his backyard in matters development.
