Moses Kuria to hold Sh6.5m ‘child support’ fundraisers
Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has invited his supporters to a series of fundraisers to raise Sh6.5 million to help him pay for ‘child support’.
The MP was on Wednesday directed by a court to pay sh6.5 million to former Justice Minister Martha Karua for damaging her name after claiming that she procured witnesses in the case against Deputy President William Ruto at The Hague.
Ms Karua had complained that the words uttered by Mr Kuria were damaging to her reputation and lowered her dignity among right thinking members of the society.

She said the words were malicious, unwarranted and defamatory in nature as they injured her character, personal credit and reputation as well as standing as a politician, business lady, family woman and an advocate.
On Wednesday, Mr Kuria said in a Facebook post that he had been instructed to pay ‘child support’ and will be holding harambees across the country to help raise the funds.
“Today I was instructed by the court to pay child support amounting to Ksh 6.5 Million. I will be holding a series of Harambees across the country so that you, my supporters can help me. The first Harambee will be held at Kerugoya stadium in the next few weeks. The date will be announced here soon,” posted Mr Kuria.
The legislator is not new to hate speech and disparaging utterances.
In October, he was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) after a complaint was made against him for reportedly suggesting that opposition leader Raila Odinga should be shot by police for championing demonstrations.
In September, he was arrested in Nairobi after he spoke in extraordinarily coarse language about the former Prime Minister and his family.
