Moses Kuria surprises party-goers at reggae concert

After what has been a week to forget, Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, took time on Saturday night to make a surprise appearance at a reggae concert in Nairobi.

Having spent three nights in a cold and dingy police cell the controversial legislator must have been longing for freedom.

Just hours after appearing on a live talk show in NTV, Mr Kuria walked in Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) grounds at around 1am for a music concert where Jamaica’s best reggae artiste, Chronixx was performing.

In tow was en entourage of a about a dozen hangers-on and bodyguards, but Mr Kuria freely mingled with the crowd before the show started.

HATE SPEECH CHARGES

After greeting his supporters, the MP took his front row seat at the VIP section to enjoy the show. Reporters were, however, kept a bay by Mr Kuria’s bodyguards.

At one point the bodyguards briefly questioned Nairobi News photographer, who was busy clicking away.

Mr Kuria was among eight legislators who were arrested on Tuesday in Nairobi and held in police custody for four days and three nights over allegations of hate speech.

The political leaders arraigned in court on Friday and released on bond.

On stage, the 24-year-old singer, whose real name is Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr, popularly known for his mega hit Here Comes Trouble, did not disappoint his fans on chilly night in Nairobi.
