Moses Kuria, Alai clash over blogger Wadi hate speech case

After getting off the hook on hate speech charges, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Monday stated that he would get blogger Allan Wadi a lawyer to help him appeal his sentence for hate speech.

During an interview on NTV, Kuria blamed the blogger’s colleagues for forsaking him and never getting a lawyer to help explore the possibility of reconciliation by the commission.

Blogger Robert Alai, a close associate of jailed Wadi took to twitter early Tuesday morning and said, “#AllanWadi already has a lawyer. He doesn’t need Moses Kuria’s. Appeal already filed #FreeAllanWadi.”

Kuria had stated that he would hire a lawyer for Wadi on Tuesday to help him appeal the hate speech case and seek reconciliation.

HIRE LAWYERS

“Tomorrow I am going to hire lawyers for Wadi for the hate speech case because I think he was entitled to knowing about the provisions of reconciliation,” said Kuria during the NTV interview.

He added that Wadi’s friends had forsaken him when he got in trouble and never had the kindness to get him a lawyer, something he would be willing to do for the blogger.

Lieutenant Wadi, as he is known on social media, appeared at a Milimani court earlier in the month after being arrested and charged for insulting the President and spreading hate speech messages.

He was sentenced to a year in prison and a fine of Sh200, 000 failure to which he would serve another year in prison.

Kuria said during the interview that Wadi missed a chance to explore the possibility of reconciliation on the part of spreading hate messages.
