One of Kenya’s richest businessmen has surprised many after sharing his humble lifestyle.

Billionaire Manu Chandaria shocked many viewers during his appearance on Jeff Koinange Live on Citizen TV when he declared that he only owns five pairs of suits.

What’s more, the tycoon who is reportedly worth about Sh30 billion, also revealed he only has one watch which he has used for the past 65 years.

“My wardrobe has five suits. One comes in, one goes out. I give it out. It’s a lesson I learnt from Gandhi,” said Chandaria whose business interests in steels, plastic and aluminium extends across eleven African countries.

Chandaria also explained he is not a fun of meat,  insisting that his humble lifestyle is aimed at offering service to the community.

“If I were to live my life all over again, I would serve people more than I serve myself,”

The 89-year old added: “Be successful and be quiet about it. Be humble always, be ambitious and stay content. Life is not just you and your family, always be available to extend a hand.”

Chandaria’s interview immediately drew mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media.
