Police are in pursuit of a man accused of stabbing another to death on Monday night in Konyu, Nyeri County in a fight over a woman.

The incident was reported to have happened at around 8:30pm when the suspect identified as Samuel Kiberenge found a woman he was interested in with another man.

Police say the victim, George Mureithi, was attacked in his home and stabbed multiple times with a knife. He succumbed to the injuries as the suspect fled.

The woman was however unharmed in the incident.

OUT ON BOND

“They were fighting over a woman. At the time of the incident the woman was with the deceased. We are pursuing the suspect,” Mathira East Divisional Police boss Matthews Gwiyo told the Nation.

Police records have since revealed that the suspect is out of custody on bond facing similar murder charges. He is accused of killing his lover in mid-2016 over a scuffle.

OCPD Mathews Gwiyo confirmed the reports are authentic and are in search of the man also said to be the brother of the area chief in which the incident occurred.

“It is true he is out on bond for a similar case. He a person who is well known. We have leads on his whereabouts,” the police boss said.
