Man kills lover’s teenage son after domestic quarrel

Police in Gilgil have arrested a 60-year-old man in connection with the killing of a 16-year-old teenage boy.

The man, said to be an ex police officer, picked a quarrel with the victim’s mother before the stabbing incident that occurred at Gitare area in the outskirts of Gilgil town.

A villager who declined to reveal his identity for fear of reprisal said the accused was cohabiting with the teenager’s mother.

“The two differed on Sunday night and the teenager was attempting to defend his mother when he was stabbed,” said the villager.

The victim succumbed to his injuries as neighbours who responded to the distress called attempted to rush him to hospital.

BLOWN HIS RETIREMENT FORTUNE

Another source claimed that the man had blown his retirement fortune on the teenager’s mother before she dumped him.

“He finally managed to trace her whereabouts. The woman was less than a month old since she moved to Gitare,” said the source.

Gilgil officer commanding police division (OCPD) Serak Koki said they were yet to establish the motive of the killing.

“We are recording statement from witnesses in order to establish what transpired,” she said.

The Gilgil police boss declined to confirm if the suspect was an ex police officer, only saying he was being held in connection with the killing incident.

Ms Koki said the suspect was being interrogated and will be arraigned in court after police complete their investigations.

The Sunday night incident left the villagers of the sleepy Gitare area shell shocked as they sought answers to the bizarre killing.
