Man killed, two injured over mutura worth Sh5

By KNA June 11th, 2015 1 min read

A man was on Wednesday afternoon hacked to death at Kiandongoro trading center, Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County after he allegedly stole mutura worth Sh5.

Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North OCPD Benjamin Onsongo said that the deceased had grabbed the mutura from a barbecue placed outside the butchery when the owners noticed and raised an alarm.

Two owners of the butchery chased him and attacked him with a panga after they caught up with him leaving him on the ground bleeding profusely.

“The attackers left him thinking that he had just sustained minor injuries. It was some moments later that passerby noticed that the man had succumbed to the injuries,” said Onsongo.

Onsongo added that irate residents headed to the butchery and beat up the two butchery owners in retaliation.

“They used all kinds of weapons to beat them up demanding an explanation as to why they had killed the man just because he had stolen mutura worth that amount,” he explained.

He said that police who arrived at the scene moments later found the two men, aged 50 and 30 years respectively, lying unconscious on the ground and took them to Nyahururu district hospital where they are receiving treatment.

“The two sustained serious wounds all over their bodies and are admitted at Nyahururu district hospital in critical condition,” added Onsongo.

He said that no one has so far been arrested as it was a case of mob justice but investigations were on going.

The body of the deceased was taken to Nyahururu district hospital mortuary.
