Man who ‘killed’ police officers surrenders in church

Police are holding a man who surrendered to Ngong Police Station and claimed responsibility for the shooting of two police officers in Kiambu last week.

The man, Thomas Audi, according to the Ngong OCPD George Seda, claimed to have been a member of the gang that eliminated the two uniformed police officers and took their official firearm.

Mr Seda said the man went to the Christ is the Answer Ministries (Citam) in Ngong town on Monday and requested the pastors to accompany him to the police station as he wanted to confess.

“He gave his side of the story but we have to investigate the authenticity of these claims. We have handed him over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI Officers in Kiambu, who have been investigating the matter,” Mr Seda said.

The two police officers were accosted by four gunmen while on patrol at Miti Kenda area in Kibichoi on Friday.

Githunguri Police Commander William Barslip had told the Nation that the officers were deployed to the area alongside two others before splitting into two groups.

The incident was reported by a man who witnessed the shooting while driving along Kibichoi- Gathage road at 1.45 pm.
