List of EACC graft allegations against Kidero, Sonko

  1. Evans Kidero, Nairobi Governor

Inquiry into allegations of procurement irregularities by officers of Nairobi County government in the signing of an MoU with Foton East Africa. It is alleged that the governor has signed a deal worth Sh4.6 billion in a plan to launch metro transportation system and the process is suspected to have been flawed.

 Status: Investigation on going.

 

  1. Mike Sonko, Nairobi Senator

Energy secretary Davis Chirchir is alleged to be perpetrating corruption in the Ministry’s tenders and procurement process. He is accused of working to ensure that corrupt deals in the energy sector are successfully executed. A case in point is where there was an attempt to influence award of a Kenya Pipeline Company tender costing Sh45 billion ($500 million) to SINOPEC instead of ZAKEHM. The tender was meant to corruptly yield Sh1.35 billion ($15 million) which was to be shared between Davis a Chirchir and Senator Mike Mbuvi.

Status: Unknown.

  1. Evans Kidero, former managing director Mumias Sugar Company

Inquiry into allegations that before Hon. Kidero, now Nairobi Governor, left Mumias Sugar Company, he processed legal fees of Sh300 million and instantly paid Sh280 million for services not rendered to the company. The payments is alleged to have been paid to Mr Ojienda’s personal account and not an account held by the contracted law firm of Ojienda & Co Advocates.

 

Status: Under investigation.

 

  1. Lillian Ndegwa, Nairobi County secretary

Inquiry into allegations of abuse of office against top Nairobi County officials to include Lillian Ndegwa as well as chief finance officer Jimmy Kiamba, head of finance Osiro and Nancy Kiruri and Regina Chepkirui.
