French clothing company Lacoste opens new outlet in Kenya

French clothing company Lacoste has set up shop in Kenya following a grand launch at Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi last weekend.

The event, which saw models showcasing designs on the catwalk, officially introduced the brand to the Kenyan market.

Lacoste first opened its doors to the Kenyan market in May 2017 at Westgate, in what was termed as a ‘soft opening’ to gauge the reception of the brand in the country.

Founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste and André Gillier, the brand is famous for versatile and functional sportswear collection as well as trendy casual wear.

The newly launched store will however stock footwear, leather products, perfume and watches in addition to sportswear and the casual wear.

In recent years, Lacoste has introduced a home line of sheeting and towels.

The Lacoste brand is recognizable by its green crocodile logo. Founder Lacoste was affectionately nicknamed “the Crocodile” by fans for his tenacity on the tennis court.
