Kin reveals how Sonko’s money cost Dennis Oliech the captaincy

Dennis Oliech’s sister Elsie has sensationally claimed that the AC Ajjacio player was stripped off the national team captaincy for reasons other than his performance on the field.

The French based forward lost the Harambee Stars captaincy to Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama last year following spats with former coach Adel Amrouche during qualifier matches for the World Cup.

At the time, Amrouche and by extent the local FA,  attributed the decision to Oliech’s lack of discipline.

But now Elsie, who is based in France with Oliech, has penned another theory.

MONEY

She attributes the decision to Oliech’s refusal to hand over money donated to the team by a local politician to the local FA.

“(Nairobi Senator Mike) Sonko awarded the team (Harambee Stars) Sh1 million. He (Oliech) had to hide from the officials who camped in his compound to share the money. Since Dennis instead gave cash to the players, angry officials in turn stripped him of the team captaincy” Elsie claimed on her official Facebook page.

She also claimed the same fate befell her other brother Ken, who was stripped of the captaincy at Gor Mahia following a “disagreement with club officials who wanted to squander club money”.

Elsie, in the Facebook post, congratulated Ken who has informally declared his intention to vie for the Football Kenya Federation top seat in the upcoming elections, set for October 2015.
