Peter Kenneth, Miguna cleared for Nairobi top seat – PHOTOS
Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants Peter Kenneth and Miguna Miguna were on Friday cleared to vie for the seat after presenting their nomination papers to county returning officer Eroo Mele at Kasarani Stadium.
The two will face off with incumbent Dr Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko.
Mr Kenneth was the first to be cleared accompanied by his running mate Dan Shikanda.
The former presidential candidate, at a press breifing, refrained from commenting on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s support for Jubilee candidate Mike Sonko, insisting that his campaign is about Nairobi governorship.
He however took a swipe at the four-year reign of incumbent Dr Evans Kidero, terming it as a disappointment to city residents.
“I wonder what he’s (Kidero) is going to tell Nairobians in the campaign. He can’t say what he has done with the approximately Sh100 billion he has received in the last four years,” said Mr Kenneth.
Mr Miguna was also given his nomination certificate after submitting the signatures of his supporters in the appropriate format.
He was accompanied by his running mate Ms Karen Wangenye.
“I was cleared yesterday, but there were issues that had to be dealt with which we have finished today,” he explained to journalists.
“We are going to run a different campaign from our opponents. Our opponents have used their positions to loot public funds,” he said.
