Kidero hopes to clear name at Tunoi tribunal over Sh200m bribery claim

Nairobi Governor Kidero has welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to form a tribunal to investigate Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi.

Dr Kidero maintained innocence on claims that he bribed the judge with Sh200 million to get a favourable  ruling in a petition filed by Ferdinand Waititu challenging his election.

“I think it was a good decision for the Pressident to have formed a tribunal because once the judge is cleared, it will clear my name too,” said Dr Kidero.

He made the remarks in Buruburu girls secondary school on Wednesday where he laid a foundation to a resource center.

Asked if he would step aside should the judge be found guilty, Dr Kidero said the constitution stipulateS how governors should vacate office.

Dr Kidero insisted that he has never met Judge Tunoi and that he is confident of being cleared of the brobery claim.

“I am sure that he will be cleared since I do not have time to indulge in corrupt deals,”said Dr Kidero.

Dr Kidero said that he does not know Judge Tunoi and only saw him on Television and the court.

He also wedged on the ongoing land dispute between Buruburu girls secondary school and residents of Metro Villas and said City Hall will with the Ministry of Lands to implement the court’s ruling on the dispute.

The land in contention is a 25-metre access road used by school and the estate.
