Khalwale: Why Nasa co-principals abandoned Raila on oath taking day
Opposition leader Raila Odinga disregarded a gentleman’s agreement between Nasa co-principals when he took the controversial oath as the ‘People’s President’.
This is according to veteran politician Boni Khalwale.
The former Kakamega Senator made this claim while appearing as a guest at the weekly political talk show Jeff Koinange Live.
“The agreement was that no oath will take place on the fateful day,” said Khalwale who also claims the Nasa team had agreed to shelve the functions following a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

“We were to meet and take a common stand in regard to what we had agreed with Antonio Guterres. But when the crowd gathered at Uhuru Park, Raila made his way there to avoid leaving the crowd hanging,” Khalwale said.
The ceremony that attracted thousands of Nasa supporters at Uhuru Park on January 30 was inexplicably skipped by Nasa co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress) and Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula.
Khalwale’s version of events, however, has drawn sharp criticism from Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement senior officials including the party’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna and Director of Communications Phil Etale.
