Kenyans react to Mutua’s ‘Maendeleo Chap Chap’ with bare feet children

Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has been the subject of internet discussion for a week now after he shared photos with bare foot children on a newly launched road.

Mutua shared the photo of the newly constructed Kathiani-Kakuyuni-Kangundo intersection road on Thursday sparking a debate on the involvement of children.

In one of the photos, Mutua squatted with children from areas along the road after a light shower of rain.

Facebook users who commented on the photo lauded Mutua for the development project but lashed at him for involving children.

Peter Peder commented, “Thank you for the good Job. However, the photo speaks more than the roads we are to see. Look at the ‘utengano’ between you and them, Its cold, it has just rained and someone is stepping on cold grounds, exposing themselves to diseases prone during this season. Maendeleo chap chap, Pia tuzingatie utu wa kibinadamu pia!”

BAD ROADS

Richard M. Nduayo stated, “That’s exactly what the governor is fighting/against “poverty”.”

Hezron Chaka Zulu Commented, “Shame on you. Dress them well then walk with them. Its unsamaritan of you.”

A user, New Innovation stated, “Am ashamed that a governor can take a picture with bare foot kid. Sad day for me.”

Veronica Gros said, “Honestly speaking I was born in Kawethei and grew up there we used sometimes to trek up to Kangundo especially when it rained due to bad road conditions and we still had leaders. And the worse thing the leaders used to still pas the same road in bad conditions. I can’t imagine now tarmacked road all the way from nairobi till home without no problem and fumbi. Watu jameni fungueni macho na muone you don’t need to be told. Mutua has really done alot.”
