Jubilee targeting Kidero to divert focus from NYS theft – majority whip

County Assembly Majority Chief Whip David Mberia has accused the government of diverting attention from corruption scandals at national level to counties.

Speaking in a phone interview on Wednesday, Majority Chief Whip David Mberia said “implicating” Governor Evans Kidero in corruption was meant to divert attention from the theft at the National Youth Service “perpetrated by Jubilee”.

Mr Mberia said investigations into Mr Kidero’s bank accounts by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission were meant to make Cord leader Raila Odinga attack the county boss.

“The way the government is fighting corruption is laughable. They are not serious,” Mr Mberia said.
He added that EACC was applying double standards in fighting corruption since it “is not investigating former CS Anne Waiguru or National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale”.

Mr Mberia condemned the government “for always fighting the governor who is bringing development to city residents”.

He accused EACC of protecting those in power and focusing its investigations on the opposition.

On Tuesday, Dr Kidero got a reprieve after the court halted investigation into his private accounts.
