JKUAT student stabbed to death by thugs in Juja
A student from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) main campus was on Friday night stabbed to death.
The student, Tim Sydney Aomba, is reported to have alighted in Juja from a meet-up with friends in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) and was headed to his house near the institution when the incident occurred.
According to the police, the student was accosted and stabbed in the chest by thugs in what is suspected to be a mugging incident.
Police report which quoted a witness said the deceased took a path in between one of the apartments known as Skyline and the Coca Cola depot and that is where he was attacked.
“After he was stabbed, he tried to run away but could not get far as he was bleeding profusely so he fell in front of a shop owned by some woman who paid a nearby boda boda rider to rush him to the JKUAT students’ hospital. Unfortunately, he had already lost too much blood by then and was declared dead on arrival,” the report added.
The body of the deceased, who used to play for the university’s American Football team, the JKUAT Sparrows, was moved to the Kenyatta University Mortuary awaiting a postmortem scheduled for Tuesday.
CARJACKING SYNDICATE
In Kiambu police are holding a suspect who is suspected to be part of carjacking syndicate. The suspect was arrested at his rental apartment in Mugutha Estate, Ruiru, following a tip off from members of the public.
Police said the suspect was armed with a pistol and ready to shoot when they raided his house.
The suspect is reported to have led the police to a home in Kisii Estate, Thika, after interrogation where a black Toyota Fielder believed to have been stolen was recovered.
The home is suspected to be one of the hideouts for the suspects.
Police quoted neighbours who said the suspect was a generally quiet person who rarely interacted with them. He is currently being grilled by police to aid them in making more arrests.
During the operation, police also recovered assorted number plates, breakage tools, batch of car keys among other items.
According to a police report, the recovery of the items was a result of a joint operation between officers in Nairobi and Kiambu, where the syndicate is believed to have been carrying out their operations.
