Itumbi disowns #VoteRuto movement, brands it a defeated group

State House Secretary of Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi has disowned a trending hashtag #VoteRuto terming it as “the sound of a defeated group.”

The hashtag became a top trend on Wednesday morning with accounts tweeting posters on Deputy President William Ruto’s agenda.

Kenyans on Twitter were however irked and voiced their displeasure with political trends saying 2022 was too far.

Itumbi sought to distance the DP’s administration from the trend writing:

“DP @WilliamsRuto has been clear on 2022 politics. It is time for service delivery. Time to serve & do what must be done for country. He has not even gotten the Jubilee ticket. The barking on hashtag ‘Vote For Ruto’ is the sound of a defeated group that is running out of ideas!”

RUTO’S SPEECHES

Itumbi however wished those behind the movement well in their efforts.

“To understand who owns this group that is barking on hashtag ‘Vote For Ruto’ just look at their previous choir of tweets. Same sound, same noise, same lyrics – Same owner! It is an Orchestra with a team, instruments & money but can barely compose a melody! We wish them well!” he wrote.

The #VoteRuto trend has been well coordinated to include videos of the DP’s speeches that touch on development matters.

Posters have also been shared showing different counties in support of the DP and the preferred Jubilee governor candidates.
