How Kenyans responded to Uhuru’s Christmas message


President Uhuru Kenyatta took to social media on Sunday to wish all Kenyans a Merry Christmas.

The post received over 1000 comments with users eliciting mixed reactions to the season’s greetings.

Some lamented how the cost of living under the President’s headship has been too high to enable household’s celebrate Christmas.

Others, however, received the President’s message with no grievances and wished him a Merry Christmas.

Here are some of the reactions:

Ari Llip Wraps stated, “The whole country is too broke to even celebrate Christmas because of ur governments record breaking theft n ur here wishing folks a merry Christmas??? Which merry Christmas lol…. We wacha mchezo bana”

Jenniffer Wanjiku commented, “Merry Christmas to you and your family mkubwa, thou your good will is not visible to all, you are a true statesman to us we are proud of you and to your haters and abusers, Merry Christmas too our president is here to stay.”

Lillian Munyao stated, “Merry Christmas Mr. Uhuru… But as you enjoy your Christmas, please remember that your people are dying due to the doctors’ strike. Please solve that issue ASAP.”

Janet Muchunu commented, “Merry Christmas Mr. President. May Our good God continue to guide you and grant you wisdom as you serve the people of the Nation of Kenya. It’s not easy but with God on our side, we will make it. We love you and your able Deputy and we are praying for you. God bless you.”

Nistelrooy Mungai stated, “Think about poor Kenya who are majority..festive season on empty pockets… i dont see anything to celebrate. umaskini umekua wimbo. Rich are living at expense of the poor.#merrychristmasuhuru.”

Felix Oteng commented, “You still find time to wish evrybdy a merry xmas YET doctor are NOT paid and u call urselves Kenyan president.”

Marie Badoura stated, “Thank you. I earnestly pray that God continue to bless you and give you wisdom like Solomon to steer this country in the right direction.”

Evaa Roman lamented, “The worst reingh we have never had… mafuta, sukari, unga and even kiberiti is not affordable! So what are we celebrating 4? But.”

Jenerali Ochola Kochola commented, “Wishing us merry Christmas while people are dying due to the doctors strike, if Jesus was to be born in Kenya today,Marry would die during delivery. What’s the need of free maternity without doctors?”
