Heavy traffic: Here are the city roads to be closed on Saturday


Major roads will be closed in the city this Saturday for this year’s Diabetes Walk.

Nairobi traffic boss has announced that five major roads will be closed for the event thatwill be flagged off at the Carnivore grounds at 6am.

The city is expected to experience heavy traffic until 12pm when the event ends.

Motorists have been urged to follow directions given by traffic officers who will be deployed on roads.

The roads to be affected are Langata Road, Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, Hospital Road and Haile Selassie Avenue.

Motorists driving towards the Central Business District from Langata  have been advised to use the Southern Bypass to Mombasa Road before connecting to Lusaka Road to get to the CBD.

All vehicles headed towards Haile Selassie Avenue will be diverted at the Haile Selassie Avenue – Uhuru Highway roundabout to Uhuru Highway – Kenyatta Avenue roundabout respectively.

Motorists using Uhuru Highway have been cautioned that the road will be a single carriageway starting from Uhuru Highway – Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout to the Uhuru Highway – Bunyala Road roundabout.

Those using Ngong Road towards the CBD and intending to use Haile Selassie Avenue will have to divert and go through Valley Road and Kenyatta Avenue junction.

Those who will be heading towards Bunyala Road via Hospital Road will divert at the Ngong Road – Hospital Road junction and will use Ngong Road, Valley Road and Kenyatta Avenue to get to the CBD.
