Heavy rains prompt a change of venue for Lucy Kibaki’s burial mass

The venue of the burial mass for the former First Lady Lucy Kibaki has been changed due to the ongoing heavy rains.

Organisers have opted to hold the mass at the Othaya Approved School playground instead of the Othaya stadium which has been flooded.

Conservative estimates indicate that the playground is three times smaller than the stadium.

Lucy Kibaki’s sons Jommy Kibaki and Tony Kibaki have visited their Othaya and Kieni homes to oversee the preparations of the burial of their deceased mother.

The former First Lady will be buried at a private ceremony in Othaya on Saturday. She died while undergoing treatment in Bupa Cromwell Hospital.

Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe had announced that a Mass for the former First Lady will be held at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands on Wednesday.
