Three of the victims died on the spot and the other two on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital, according to police spokesperson Charles Owino.

Owino said the matatu registered under Manchester Sacco was heading to Thika from the City Centre when it lost control and hit the pedestrians, shops and then an electric post.

“It’s unfortunate that people die from mistakes that could be avoided. We will apprehend the driver as he is registered as a member of Manchester Sacco,” said Owino.
