Four suspected robbers shot dead on Mombasa Road

Four suspected robbers were on Thursday morning shot dead by officers from Flying Squad and a two guns recovered.

The suspects were trailed by the officers from Kiambu before being shot on the busy highway.

Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome confirmed the shooting and added that a pistol and a revolver were recovered from the slain suspects.

Meanwhile, in another incident, three suspected thugs were on Tuesday gunned down on the Eastern Bypass in Nairobi moments after robbing Sh315,000 from a Japanese national.

According to Mr Koome, the suspected thugs carjacked the foreigner pretending to be police officers on Monday night, bundled him into a getaway vehicle and later abandoned him near Thika Superhighway.

“The suspects blocked his vehicle near Ruai trading centre, they then pushed him into their car and drove towards Thika. They then abandoned him near Thika Superhighway after robbing him of 315,000 shillings,” Mr Koome said.

During the operation, detectives managed to recover guns and other police equipment suspected to have been stolen in earlier robberies.

“The officers recovered the vehicle that we highly suspect was stolen, two guns, a police radio call and handcuffs. We are still looking for the fourth suspect who managed to escape with bullet wounds,” stated Mr Koome.
