Former KQ flight staff free after 13 years in jail for drug trafficking

A former Kenya Airways flight attendant on Monday stepped out of Langata Women’s Prison a free woman after serving a 13-year term for drug trafficking.

Family members were present to receive 49-year-old Priscilla Chemutai Kolongei, who was thrown behind bars in March 2002.

She was to serve 18 years but the sentence was reduced to 13 years due to her good conduct while in jail.

Relatives took care of her young daughter when she was in jail.

By 8am, Ms Kolongei and her relatives had left the prison.

She was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as she tried to smuggle more than 27 kilogrammes of heroin worth Sh27 million into the country from India.
