8 faithful deny causing chaos and damage in church
Eight members of Uiguano African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) were on Monday charged in a Nyahururu court with creating chaos and disturbance.
The accused Joyce Wanjiku, Mary Mukuhi, Lydia Njoki, David Ndung’u, Ronald Mwai, Bethwel Mugo, Stephen Muchai and John Mwai denied the charges and were released on a Sh15,000 cash bail each.
The eight were accused of creating disturbance in the church at Rurii, Nyandarua County, on Sunday. Five worshippers were injured and appeared in court with bandages.

They were also accused of damaging three plastic chairs worth Sh 2,800 belonging to the church and a motor vehicle belonging to one of the worshippers at the church on the same day.
The eight were arrested after a scuffle broke out between supporters of two bishops who have allegedly been fighting over leadership of the church.
Five worshippers were injured during the fight and some of them appeared in court with bandaged faces.
Members of the church flocked corridors of the court to witness as their fellow believers took plea. They later held a meeting outside the court premises to plan on how to bail them out and wait for their release. The case will be mentioned on February 8, this year.
