Facebook gang of Dandora hits back, shoots police officer

A police officer was injured and a robbery suspect killed in a gunfight in Nairobi’s Dandora estate.

The officer was part of a squad that raided a house in Mowlem on Wednesday afternoon.

City police boss Japheth Koome said the officers were responding to information from residents about a gang that was holed in a house.

“Residents called my officers when they saw four men who were armed with firearms and were acting suspiciously. When the officers responded, the gangsters engaged them in a shootout,” he said.

STABLE CONDITION

A Taurus pistol loaded with four bullets was found on the dead suspect.

A massive man hunt involving other teams of police officers was launched to pursue the other three men who escaped.

Mr Koome said the injured officer was in stable condition.

“He has already been admitted to hospital and the doctors has told us that the officer is out of danger,” he added.
