EXCLUSIVE: This is what Boniface Mwangi scored in last year’s KCSE
The Nairobi News can reveal the mean grade that human rights activist Boniface Mwangi scored in the 2016 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) exam.
Mr Mwangi scored a mean grade of D- (minus) of 16 points.
This is how the feisty public defender fared: English D- (minus), Kiswahili D- (minus), Maths E, History D+ (plus), CRE D (plain), Business Studies D- (minus) and General Science E.
He has kept the mean grade a secret, only saying that he was qualified to be a police officer in Kenya.

The activist sat for the 2016 KCSE examinations after he was “unfairly expelled” from school at the young age of 14 years.
Mr Mwangi sat for the 2016 exams as a private candidate at the Visionary Tuition Centre in Nairobi’s South B.
UNDERPERFORMING
In an interview with the Sunday Nation’s Lifestyle magazine, he had expressed fears of underperforming in the exams because of little time to prepare owing to his ongoing court fight with Deputy President William Ruto.
“I had planned to take a sabbatical to prepare for the exams then Ruto sued me and l haven’t been able to study much. My lawyer, Gitobu Imanyara, tasked me to do background media research on this case. Instead of studying for my exams, I have been busy preparing for the Ruto case and for the book launch. Regardless of the results, it won’t be the end of life,” Mr Mwangi said.
The photojournalist-turned-activist has announced that he will vie for the Starehe parliamentary seat in the August election on an Ukweli political party ticket.
