Eacc summons Nairobi Speaker over scuffle on Kidero’s impeachment

The anti-corruption commission has summoned the leadership of the Nairobi County Assembly to assist in investigations on unethical conduct by MCA’s last week.

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (Eacc) is investigating last Thursday’s scuffle in the County Assembly during an attempt by renegade Cord MCA Samuel Nyangw’ara to table a motion to impeach Governor Evans Kidero.

Fellow party members threw water bottles at him, denouncing him as a traitor.

Eacc on Monday wrote letters to Nairobi Speaker Alex ole Magelo and Clerk Jacob Ngwele asking them to appear at Integrity Centre on Thursday and Friday respectively at 9am.

The Commission further wants the Clerk to provide it with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of the incident.

Mr Nyang’wara, the Viwandani Ward Representative, told the Nation that he will read again the private motion on Tuesday to allow the House committee time to allocate it a day for its debate.

Meanwhile the leadership of Jubilee coalition in the County Assembly have urged their members to support the impeachment motion.

Deputy Minority Leader Ngaruiya Chege said that those who will not support will face disciplinary action.

He added that the security of the mover, Mr Nyangw’ara has been beefed up to protect him.

“Nyangw’ara will move the motion on the side of Jubilee to ensure his security is provided,” said Ngaruiya.
