EACC denies arresting Kidero-era finance executive over Sh71m payment


The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the Nairobi County Executive for Finance Gregory Mwakanongo over Sh71 million payment made as legal fees.

Also being investigated is Mr Mwakanongo’s chief officer Luke Gatimu.

The anti-graft agency has however denied claims that the two were arrested on Tuesday and grilled at Integrity Centre.

EACC deputy chief executive Mr Michael Mubea told Nairobi News that he was surprised by the rumors.

“No arrests made by EACC officers, however, City Hall chief officer for finance Mr Gatimu has severally recorded statements over questionable payments made to Koceyo and Co Advocates amounting to Sh71million,”read a statement from the EACC.

EACC has been investigating City Hall’s finance department after queries were raised by the auditor general.
