Mutula records statement over father’s post-mortem
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr recorded a statement at CID headquarters on Tuesday as police opened investigations into allegations that samples for his father’s autopsy were tampered with.
The Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko ordered for a fresh probe on the claims, almost two years after the death of the former minister Mutula Kilonzo.
Senator Mutula Kilonzo was accompanied by his sister Kethi Kilonzo at the CID headquarters.
The Senator took to twitter on Tuesday and announced the move, “DPP has ordered a probe into the interference/ tampering of samples of the late Mutula Kilonzo. I will be recording a statement this morning.”
HEART ATTACK RULED OUT
The late Mutula Kilonzo was found dead at his Maanzoni Ranch on 27 April 2013 by his workers.
A probe into the cause of his death was launched soon after and a possibility of a heart attack ruled out.
The team of doctors, pathologists and investigators narrowed down the cause to a likelihood of poisoning as he had serious internal bleeding.
On Saturday, during the burial of the late Fidel Odinga, Mutula’s daughter Kethi Kilonzo stated that there are ‘poachers’ who were robbing the Cord coalition of its leaders and who need to be stopped.
The late Mutula Kilonzo died barely a month after he was elected in office as the Makueni Senator on a Wiper party ticket. His son Mutula Junior succeeded his seat.
