Dennis Itumbi to wait longer on Sh50m payout case over leaked ICC papers

State House Director of Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi will know his fate on February 7, 2017 on whether he will be compensated Sh50 million for unlawful arrest and detention four years ago.

Mr Itumbi was detained over alleged involvement in the leakage of  International Criminal Court (ICC) documents.

He was arrested on March 22, 2014 and detained for four days when he was released.

Mr Itumbi subsequently sued the Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Inspector General of Police for breach of his rights.

High Court judge Joseph Onguto on Tuesday said he will issue judgement on the case on on February 7.

However, the DPP told the court that Mr Itumbi’s arrest and detention was not illegal since he was not charged with any offence because there was no evidence to have him prosecuted.
