Residents of Dandora want to sack their County Rep for allegedly slowing down development.

The residents also advised their political leaders to work together to develop the area and help youths to start up projects to keep the from crime.

Dandora County Rep Charles Thuo has been accused of inciting youths to fight against local administration and encouraging them to engage in crime. 

In a demonstration they held across the estate on Monday, the residents demanded that Mr Thuo steps down if he was not willing to work with the administration in empowering the youth and tackling crime.

The residents termed Mr Thuo selfish, saying he was not helping the community to grow.

“ Thuo is giving youths money to engage in changaa brewing instead of helping them to come out of crime,” one who requested anonymity said.

Youths working at the local dumpsite said it was through the help of area DO Andrew Kimani that they had left crime to start youth groups and money-generating projects.

The residents pointed out that Mr. Thuo had been inciting them against Mr Kimani and giving them handouts.

Resident George Karanja said: “The County Rep is not at all bringing any development and we are saying that Thuo must go, we want development, we don’t want someone who is not helping us.” 

They argued that Thuo was against the court systems introduced by the DO, saying the projects had helped to reduce crime in the area. 

“If Thuo is not willing to work with Mr Kimani, we will not cooperate with him, we are calling for him to either change or he leaves the office for another willing person to lead us in the right direction,” said another resident, MrJohn Mbuthia said.

Mr Kimani, however, said he was ready to work with all and community leaders in supporting development. He said he had been working with the youth and giving them tips on how to start businesses.
