Crisis as parents hunt for schools

Parents in Nairobi are reeling in shock following news that hundreds of last year’s KCPE examination candidates who scored over 400 marks will miss places in the country’s top national schools.

In one particularly shocking case, parents of one candidate who scored an impressive 429 marks have been left devastated after he missed a slot in his preferred national school, Nairobi School, because it could only take the top two candidates from private schools!

The shock was replicated in many other homes as families came to terms with the fact that good marks alone could not guarantee a place in the nation’s best schools.
